An awesome tool that allows you to see your Foursquare activity on a map has emerged.
According to Ben Parr from Mashable, Weeplaces grabs your Foursquare data after authorization and plots it out on a greyed-out map. The result is a well-presented interactive graphic that shows you the chronology of your checkins on a timeline and the locations of those checkins on the map.
Weeplaces was created by Movity, a geo-data startup with a team of only five people. You can learn more about them at their website.
While the premise of the service is a good one, people may have noticeable reactions to a service of this kind. Geolocation data can be very private for some, and visualizing a user’s data can easily provide anyone with general location trends. Visualized data similar to Weeplaces’ output could present a new security risk for geolocation users.
What are your thoughts on Weeplaces? Do you think you will give the service a try?
